Welcome to Axle Art & Design!

Hello, I’m Amanda! My friends call me Axle. The nickname Axle originated when a friend and I worked together in the trades. I used to wear fabric headbands while I worked and it reminded them of Axl Rose from Guns & Roses.

I am a former city kid turned small-town adult. I grew up in Edmonton but have retreated to the quiet East Kootenay Life. I started my career in the trades as an Auto Body Apprentice making it into my second year with my Red Seal in Painting. Sadly, Auto Body lost its sparkle, and I returned to NAIT to earn my Certificate in Graphic Communications. Since 2018, I have worked as a Graphic Designer for a Sign Company that manufactures signs Canada-wide.

A Passion that comes with Experience & Expertise.

Along with my time designing signs, I have over a decade of knowledge in the print industry. Starting my career in 2012 as a copy and print associate at a major office supply store, I have worked my way up through the years into corporate contracts, wide format printing, Data Merging, and vehicle installs. Even with splitting my time with Auto body in between, the print world has always called me back into it’s warm, freshly printed paper embrace.
The world around us is changing at a rapid pace, but even with the emergence of new technologies and the ever growing digital era, we still rely on printed media as a viable source of information. That is why I chose to to elevate my career and study at a leading Polytechnic college to get the best outcome for my future in the field I was most passionate about. My instructors were industry trained, and up-to-date on the latest programs and technologies relevant to Graphic Design and print production. I was on the Dean’s Honour Role for both semesters of my program and completed a work practicum that got my foot in the door for the career I have today.
I am thankful for the experiences that have gotten me to where I am at today. I am passionate about my career as well as helping others. I hope to help you on your journey to elevate your design intentions to the next level.

Designing With the Future in mind.

Working for a Sign Company for the past several years has afforded me some little nuggets of wisdom that doesn’t always get taught directly in Design school. As a Graphic Designer, my job is to problem solve and be a forward thinker with your goals in mind. This means thinking of EVERYTHING your brand identity is going to be applied to, whether that be a shirt, a business card, or a storefront sign. I will guide you step by step through the process of bringing your brand to life in a effective and practical way.

In a world full of DIY, Let me be your Guide.

The world of DIY can get overwhelming. That is why it is important sometimes to enlist the help of a professional to get the job done right, the first time. Let me help guide you through the design process from start to finish to customize your brand, love story, or art commission, the way you want.
